COMSTOCK PARK, MICH. - Leaders from the Comstock Park Public School district have canceled the first day of class. They say their communications system is down.
WZZM 13 spoke with Superintendent Ethan Ebenstein early Tuesday morning, Sept. 6. He says the phones in the district are not working. The problem may have been caused by a third-party company.
District leaders made the decision to cancel class for safety reasons. They say there are various potential reasons school safety could be an issue without phone communication available.
The closure adds Comstock Park to a list of districts that have canceled the first day of class.
That list includes part of the neighboring Kenowa Hills Public School District in Walker, and Battle Creek's Harper Creek Community Schools. Those schools are dealing with mold problems.
