Detroit is America's 2nd-worst place to find a job, study says

Well, at least it isn't last.

It's a new year, which means it's time for a new slew of studies ranking cities across the United States. And here's one that doesn't look so flattering for Detroit: The Motor City ranks second-to-last in WalletHub's "2018 Best Places to Find a Job."

To be fair, Detroit ranked last place in the same study last year. The only city that ranks worse this year is Shreveport, La.

These findings are based on a study that ranks 182 cities based on job market and socio-economics. The study also factored in job opportunities, employment growth, average starting monthly salary, unemployment rate and median annual income.

Detroit ranked pretty poorly across the board, especially in job opportunities (second-to-last), unemployment rate (last) and median annual income (178th out of 182).

Four of the Top 5 cities to find a job are Phoenix, Ariz. suburbs: Chandler, Scottsdale, Peoria and Gilbert. San Francisco ranks No. 3.

The only other Michigan city on the list is Grand Rapids at No. 43. Read more here.
