MCGEHEE, Ark. (KTHV) – An inmate who escaped from the McGehee Criminal Justice Facility on Saturday has been arrested in Texas.
Jeremy Barnett, 40, was awaiting bed space at the Arkansas Department of Corrections after being arrested for violating parole when he escaped.
He was arrested in Sulphur Springs, Texas around 3 a.m. on Friday. Members of the U.S. Marshals, the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections Joint Task Force and the Sulphur Springs Police Department worked off a tip that Barnett was at a resident in Sulphur Springs.
Authorities were able to locate him, and he was taken into custody without incident.
He is currently being held by authorities in Texas where he is awaiting extradition back to Arkansas.
