Judge calls convicted murderer a "cold-blooded killer"

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WZZM) - A man convicted of killing his sister and her husband in 1987 will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Ryan Wyngarden was sentenced to two life terms Monday in Grand Haven court. Judge John Hulsing, in pronouncing the sentence, called Wyngarden "a cold-blooded killer."

Wyngarden was convicted in March in the case that had gone cold. Prosecutors convinced the jury that Wyngarden had killed his sister and her husband to cover up a sexual relationship he had with his sister while they were minors.

Wyngarden continued to profess his innocence in court Monday blaming investigators and an "unjust judge."
