Male pulled from Grand Haven Township bayou in critical condition

A man was pulled from the water near the Millhouse Bayou Bridge in Grand Haven Township late Sunday night. Lauren Stanton has the details.

GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP, MICH. - A male was in critical condition after a passer by pulled him from the water just before 8 p.m. Sunday in the area of the Millhouse Bayou Bridge on Mercury Drive.

Our partners at the Grand Haven Tribune report an ambulance transferred the person to North Ottawa Community Hospital, said Sgt. Christie Wendt of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.

A few minutes later, Grand Haven Public Safety officers responded to the hospital to set up a landing zone for the Aeromed helicopter.

It was unknown at press time if the incidents were connected.

Dispatchers put out an emergency call at about 7:47 p.m. saying a person might have gone off the bridge into Millhouse Bayou. A cell phone and a skateboard were left on the bridge.

Moments later dispatchers reported the person had been pulled from the water and that CPR was in progress.

Police were not releasing any more information at the scene.
