Charges dropped against ninth employee at Grand Rapids Home for Veterans

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Criminal charges were dismissed against another former caregiver at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.

The defendant is one of 11 caregivers who were charged with falsifying medical records after charting they had checked on veterans, when surveillance video shows the checks were never done.

In October, a judge dismissed charges against eight of the 11 defendants who were accused of falsifying records. Today's dismissal is for a ninth defendant in the case.

And a circuit court judge ordered the remaining two cases be sent back to district court, where they will likely also be dismissed.

The attorney general's office earlier said it is reviewing its options.
