Fees put Rosa Parks Circle swing dancing in jeopardy

Grand Rapids, Mich. (WZZM) Swing Dancing at Rosa Parks Circle could be in jeopardy of not returning this year.

Organizer, Steve Zaagman, who also works for WZZM 13, says the city wants to charge him more than $20,000 a year for security costs. He says that's on top of the fees, and insurance cost he is normally charged.

Security became an issue last season after teenagers started several fights near the event.

Zaagman says he hopes to receive a grant from the Downtown Development Authority, but if that doesn't happen, he says the event will either move to another location or go away completely.
