GRAND RAPIDS, MICH - Work is getting underway in Grand Rapids on the flood wall along the west bank of the Grand River.
The hope is to expand the wall, because of heavy rain caused problems there in 2013. On Friday June, 9 work was underway from the Blue Bridge to the north end of Ah-Nab-Awen Park.
The city is installing barrier walls and making other improvements to reach the 100 year flood elevation which is required by the federal government. This phase of the project is costing about $ 1 million. Work should be completed around August First.
