GR Ballet to feature vision of Polar Express author

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - The Grand Rapids Ballet announced a new, redesigned version of The Nutcracker, coming this winter.

The new look for the classic ballet will include sets created by Eugene Lee, who has won Tony Awards for set design for Sweeney Todd, Wicked, and Candide. He will be working with Grand Rapids native Chris Van Allsburg, author of The Polar Express, Zathura, and Jumanji for the creative vision of the ballet performance. Also, Val Caniparoli will be the choreographer.

The new Nutcracker will debut at a premier gala on December 11 and will support the Grand Rapids Ballet's charity partner, Hospice of Michigan.
