Injuries reported after van runs into GR building

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- A van slammed into a building downtown Friday afternoon, pinning people inside the vehicle and damaging the building at 76 S. Division.

Fire fighters, police officers, and paramedics responded to the crash, which happened during the 2 o'clock hour.

A man and a woman in the van were hospitalized after being freed. A teenage boy was also in the van but was not hospitalized.

Police at the scene told WZZM 13 a medical emergency might have caused the accident. Witnesses said the van appeared to accelerate immediately before the crash.

The damaged building used to be home to Tini Bikini's Bar & Grill.
