GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- A West Michigan hospital is using new technology to cut down on hospital borne-infections.
Mercy Health Saint Mary's has two new robots that use ultraviolet light to disinfect a room further, after staff clean it by hand.
The devices use high intensity UV-C light to kill pathogens like norovirus, the flu virus, staph bacteria and MRSA.
The process takes around five minutes. To learn more about the disinfecting robot, click here. Liberty Dykehouse, an infection control coordinator with Mercy Health Saint Mary's talks more about the technology. Click on the video link to watch the segment.
