TEDx conference held in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- Speakers from around the world came to West Michigan Wednesday for an event called TEDx Grand Rapids.

The conference is held throughout the country, promoting "ideas worth spreading.," according to organizers

Speakers gathered at Civic Theatre and talked about the latest topics in the world of technology, entertainment, and design. The conference's name is an acronym for those disciplines.

Organizers say the event is a great way to bring thinkers and doers in our community together.

"We liked to bring to the stage people's stories who might otherwise get told. Often we have somebody here in Grand Rapids whose never told this story on a stage before so it's very interesting to hear, it makes it much more approachable for people," said Dalin Clark.

There are TEDx conferences in other Michigan cities, including Detroit, Lansing, and Muskegon.

The original TED conferences started 20 years ago.
