Police: Teen accidentally shoots himself in the head

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - The Grand Rapids Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred at a residence on Griggs Street near Division Avenue.

At approximately 10:12 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, officers were called to the residence on a report of an accidental
shooting, according to a news release. When officers arrived they found a 15-year-old male who had been shot in the head.

He was taken to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital, where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. A preliminary investigation indicates that two juvenile males were “playing a game” when the gun discharged.

The department’s Major Case Team will investigating the incident.
