Missing Grand Rapids man found safe in Muskegon area

UPDATE: Police say Vernon Gort was found "safe and sound" in Muskegon County.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Grand Rapids police are asking for the public's help to find a missing man who needs medical attention.

Vernon Gort was last seen leaving a home around 2 p.m. Monday, April 3, on Guild Street NE. According to a news release from the department, the 75 year old was supposed to make a trip to the Gordon Food Service at Alpine Avenue and Lamoreaux Drive NW but has not been heard from since.

Police say Gort suffers from conditions that need medical attention. 

Gort is about 5-foot-6-inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing eye glasses, an orange shirt, an olive green jacket and jeans. He also wears hearing aids. He drives a black, 2014 Chevy Equinox with a Michigan license plate 5505G5.
