GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - A 12-year-old boy is in the hospital following a stabbing on Grand Rapids' Southwest Side Wednesday, Nov. 9.
Investigators say it happened shortly after 8 p.m. on Caulfield Avenue between Franklin and Hall Streets.
Police say it appears an 8-year-old boy was arguing with younger brothers and sisters when the 12 year old intervened. Officers say that is when the 8 year old grabbed a knife and stabbed the older boy.
According to a press release from Grand Rapids Police the boy's condition did improve after surgery. He was listed in critical but police say the boy is recovering well, with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the 8 year old is currently in juvenile detention.
Anyone with additional information on the stabbing is asked to call 616-456-3400, or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
