Grand Rapids church celebrating 100 years

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- The Shrine of St. Francis Xavier, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish is celebrating its 100th anniversary this weekend.

Saturday's 6:00 p.m. service marks the beginning of the celebration, with a reception afterwards. Former clergy members, parishioners, and staff are invited to join the parish family for the celebration.

When the original church was built in 1914, it was on the southern tip of Grand Rapids. The city has grown around the Brown Street location. The current building was built in the same Brown Street location as its original building in 1960.
