GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- Police recovered several illegal handguns Saturday night after responding to a report of shots fired at a party on the city's southeast side.
Someone reported those shots around 11:26 on the 800 block of Neland Ave. SE. When officers arrived, they saw people run away. They chased those subjects, catching a 17-year-old boy not far from the party and arresting him for carrying a concealed weapon and running from police. Officers recovered two handguns they say that individual tried hiding in the backyard of the party's location.
Authorities recovered three more handguns when they chased another group of subjects who had fled from the party. There are no arrests related to those guns yet, though.
A 15-year-old was arrested on a curfew offense and to running from police.
Investigators are also trying to determine whether an arrest a couple of hours later near Cass Ave. SE and Garden St. SE is related. A driver was caught with a handgun and arrested for carrying a concealed weapon.
Nobody was injured in either incident.
