GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- Spectrum Health has announced a $24 million plan for new construction and renovations at its rehab and nursing centers on Kalamazoo Avenue in Grand Rapids.
The initial plans call for a new, 117,000 square-foot, two-story facility.
It will have room for about 165 patients, serving people with brain, spinal cord, and other long-term injuries.
Spectrum's Jeff Mislevy said, "Because of the type of care provided there, for so many years, we believe it is time to invest in a new facility that will sustain us for the next couple of decades and allow us to provide more efficient care to that population."
Construction on the new facility should start next spring and is expected to be completed by the summer of 2016.
