Suspect in MSU murder captured in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- A 19-year-old man has peacefully surrendered to police following a standoff at a southeast side home.

Grand Rapids Police surrounded a house in the 900 block of Temple Street SE around 7 p.m. Tuesday with guns drawn. The man surrendered around 8:20 p.m. without incident.

U.S. Marshals had been monitoring the house and alerted local police when the suspect was spotted.

Marquay McCoy, 19, was arrested on a parole violation. East Lansing Police say he is the suspect in the shooting death of Michigan State University student Dominique Nolff on January 31. Nolff's roommate Corbin Holwerda, 20, of Grand Haven was also shot in the incident but survived.

McCoy has a lengthy juvenile and criminal record which includes theft, destruction of property, and resisting arrest. For now he is being held on a parole violation, but is expected to be charged with the murder of Nolff.
