GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - A police chase on Grand Rapids' West Side ended not long after it began, resulting in a crash in a parking lot.

Grand Rapids police began their pursuit before 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 3, when they tried to pull over a car and its driver for not wearing a seatbelt, according to police at the scene.

The driver then sped off, and police opted not to follow.

Michigan State Police continued the pursuit when a trooper noticed the wanted vehicle on Bridge Street. The driver again sped off before it crashed into another vehicle in the parking lot of a shopping strip near the Domino's Pizza restaurant on Leonard Street NW.

The driver was arrested after a short foot chase.
