Man shot and killed in Black Hills neighborhood, suspect at large

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - A 27-year-old man is dead after being shot late Wednesday night on Grand Rapids' southwest side.

Investigators say they were called out to an alley between Dorchester and Norwich avenues. That's just west of U.S. 131 near the corner of Godfrey Avenue and Hall Street.

When they arrived, police say the man was suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to Mercy Health Saint Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids where he later died.

The victim's identity has not yet been released and there's no word about where on his body he was shot.

Police were only able to offer a vague description of the suspect. They say he's a black man, around 5'5" and weighs around 125 pounds. He was last seen wearing dark clothing.
