'Liftsit' fundraising campaign meets goal, raises $94K

Fundraiser for orphanage in Guatemala

UPDATED: Organizers met their goal of $94,000 on Thursday, Nov. 3.

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. - There's a fundraising campaign in Ottawa County reaching out to drivers -- literally.

Our radio/weather partner, JQ 99.3, is doing what they're calling a "liftsit" on I-196 near Hudsonville. One of their DJ's is at the top of the lift, along with the founder of "Paradise Bound Ministries."

It's the fifth year they're partnering to raise money for an orphanage in Guatemala.

This year's effort began Wednesday, Nov. 2. Organizers say the two will stay on top of the lift until they raise the money needed.

This year, the goal is to raise $94,000. Last year, it took them three days.
