GRANDVILLE, MICH. - There's no word on what might have caused a loud "booming" sound somewhere in Grandville and the immediate area.
A Kent County dispatcher says they've received at least 15 or so phone calls around 8:30 p.m. Saturday, April 15, following what many say they heard an explosion. Sheriff's department deputies were sent to the area but have not been able to determine the sound's source, the dispatcher said.
Many people have been calling into the WZZM 13 Information Center about the sound. For some, it was loud enough to cause houses to shake.
"Any word on that HUGE boom is Grandville? There all have been three so far but only one that shook houses from 56th to 28th streets....." said Rebekah Bacigalupo on Facebook.
WZZM 13's Nick LaFave said it was loud enough to think someone crashed into his house.
Anyone who might know of a source can call the Kent County Sheriff's Department at 616-632-6100.
