GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Tens of thousands of dollars were handed out to some West Michigan students during a college fair in Grand Rapids Saturday.
Two dozen "Historically Black Colleges and Universities", or HBCUs, were represented during the event. About 200 students were at the fair and were encouraged to attend an HBCU.
There are roughly 100 HBCUs in the United States, most of them in the south. Florida A&M University gave approximately $140,000 in scholarships to seven local students.
