Holland Township business fire ruled suspicious

Holland fire considered suspicious

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, MICH. - Investigators are now calling a fire at Graphix Signs and Embroidery, suspicious.

The business is located at East Lakewood Boulevard and 112th avenue in Holland township. Flames gutted the building early Monday morning.

Authorities ruled the fire as "suspicious" after discovering someone broke into the business. They have no suspects yet and are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.  A fire investigation dog was brought to the scene and found some evidence.

"There are some concerning aspects in the investigation in that there are some areas that look to be forensic evidence, whether or not there's flammable liquids has yet to be determined, but areas of flooring have been removed and have been sent to the lab for analysis," Captain Mark Bennett with the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office said.

The business offered embroidery, signs, screen printing, and promotional items. It has served West Michigan since 1991 and, according to its website, was one of the first businesses in Holland to introduce computer cut graphics for vehicles, boats, banners, construction signs and more.

The business owner posted a message on the company's Facebook, thanking the community for the outpouring support and telling customers they will be back.

Police are urging anyone with information, to call the  Silent Observer at 1-877-88-SILENT.
