ZEELAND, Mich. (WZZM) -- A 17-year-old boy was rushed into surgery after being stabbed Friday night in Zeeland, according to police.
Authorities responded to the 100 block of S. Pine around 6 o'clock, on a report of a victim with a stab wound to the chest.
After arriving on-scene, investigators say they learned the victim had been sitting on a bench outside City on a Hill Ministries when his attacker approached and stabbed him.
The male attacker then fled from the scene. The victim was transported to the hospital before police arrived.
Police say there were no helpful witnesses. When asked if the incident appeared to be gang-related, Zeeland Police Chief Bill Olney said that hadn't yet been determined.
This incident follows a stabbing late Thursday night that killed an 18-year-old man in Holland Township. A 16-year-old is being charged as an adult with murder. Learn more about that case here.
At this point, investigators haven't indicated whether the two crimes are related.
