76-year-old woman dies from injuries in Holland crash

HOLLAND, MICH. - A 76-year-old woman died from her injuries in a three-vehicle crash Tuesday.

Joan Haight of Holland was the front-seat passenger in a car driven by 74-year-old David Kars, according to an Ottawa County Sheriff's Office news release.

The Kars' vehicle was traveling west just before 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, on U.S. 31 at 8th Street when it was hit on the drivers side of a northbound pickup truck driven by 29-year-old Tiffany Nichols of Hesperia.

Police say Nichols did not stop for the red traffic light at the intersection.

The crash involved a third vehicle, which was driving alongside Kars' car. It was driven by 67-year-old Nancy Haveman of West Olive; she was not hurt.

Haight and Kars were taken to Holland Hospital in serious condition. Kars remains in serious condition.
