Crews resume search for teen's remains in Lake Michigan

HOLLAND, MICH. - It has been a week since two teens were swept away by a rip current in Lake Michigan at Holland State Park.

Today, recovery crews returned to the water looking for the remains of 17-year-old Chris Mimis. He was swimming at the beach last Wednesday when he and 14-year-old Vincent Green were pulled out by the current.

Green's body was recovered near the rocks on the north pier last Thursday. The search has been suspended several times over the last few days due to conditions on the lake.

The DNR and Ottawa County Sheriff's Department are conducting the search. Officials are not sure how long they will keep looking, saying they are taking it day by day.

Mimis was father to a 4 month old baby girl. If you'd like to help fund funeral expenses, click here.
