Holland Civic Center decision deadline moved up

HOLLAND, MICH. - A deadline for financing on the proposed improvements at the Holland Civic Theater is coming up sooner than city leaders had expected.

Engineers on the project need to know the final square footage by next week to determine whether it qualifies for a special state bond program. It will allow the city to pay down the debt at a lower rate.

Initially, city leaders thought they had until mid-November to make a decision on two options: a new park outside the center or a new expanded entryway.

The hope was fundraising would have generated enough money to allow for both.
