Holland DPS holding fundraiser for paramedic injured in crash

HOLLAND, MICH. - The Holland Department of Public Safety is hosting a benefit car wash and bake sale for AMR Paramedic Tim Hoffman this weekend.

Hoffman was injured in a serious crash, while on duty, on Aug. 7, 2016.

He was in the back of the ambulance when police say a drunk driver crossed the center line on Blue Star Highway and crashed into his unit head-on. The ambulance was not transporting any patients at the time.

According to a release, he has been making a steady recovery -- but still has some challenges ahead.

All proceeds from the event will go directly to Hoffman's family.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016 at the departments' Kollen Park Fire Station.

HDPS hosts a benefit car wash on an annual basis. Past beneficiaries have been the Addison Rusticus Education Fund, Harbor Humane Society and the Marissa Kronemeyer Scholarship Fund for Calvary Schools.
