HOLLAND, MICH. - The Ottawa County Sheriff's Department is now calling a search for two teenagers in Lake Michigan a recovery effort.
Captain John Wolffis says a group of four boys were swimming in the swim area when they all started to struggle. Two of the boys were able to make it to the rocks near the north pier.
The 14 and 17 year old were not able to make it to the pier and were taken out by the current. Wolffis says the waves on Lake Michigan were 5 to 8 feet at the time. Crews searched for the teens through the night.
The Coast Guard, Ottawa County Sheriff's Department, Holland City Police and Fire and Park Township Fire are taking part in the search.
The Coast Guard has a 47 foot life boat and a helicopter taking part in the search.
This is a developing story.
