Update, 4 p.m.: The water search for Christopher Mimis has been suspended, however, police say they will continue efforts to find his body along the shore.
HOLLAND, Mich. -- The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office has resumed its search and recovery efforts for 17-year-old Christopher Mimis in Lake Michigan.
Crews met at the U.S. Coast Guard station for a briefing at about 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, before resuming the search. A plane is also being used the scour the water from the sky.
The search has been on and off throughout the week because of rough lake conditions since Mimis went missing late Wednesday.
Deputies say Mimis and Vincent Green, 14, were with a group of four boys swimming in the swim area of the lake around 8 p.m. Wednesday when they all started to struggle.
Two of the boys were able to make it to the rocks near the north pier.
Mimis and Green were not able to make it to the pier and were taken out by the current. Green's body was recovered Thursday evening.
Mimis just moved to the area from Chicago and attended Holland High School. Green was a student at West Ottawa.
Mimis was father to a 4 month old baby girl. If you'd like to help fund funeral expenses, click here.
