See new side of Holland, the bird's eye view

Holland drone

HOLLAND, MICH. - Holland has made a new purchase that allows the community to see their home from an entirely new perspective -- 400-feet in the air.

The city of Holland recently purchased a DJI Inspire Pro 1 drone to add a unique vantage point to telling Holland's story. The Pilot in Command is Mulitmedia Speclialst Kevin Lee, having obtained a part 107 remote pilot certification with a small unmanned aircraft system (small UAS) in October. Lee will operate the drone while another person controls the camera.

The drone has a 4k camera capable of taking videos, photos, and streaming live to Facebook. The city of Holland recently surpassed 1 million views on social media. They have their own YouTube channel, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Flickr, all utilized to connect Holland residents and showcase the community.

Holland stories are told from three angles: Events, “Behind the Scenes” and Human Interest. The new drone will give these stories a whole new twist -- from a bird’s eye view.
