Police identify teen recovered from Lake Michigan

Dive teams recover one teen from Lake Michigan

HOLLAND, MICH. - UPDATE: Police say the teen recovered from Lake Michigan is 14-year-old Vincent Green. The search for 17-year-old Christopher Mimis is on hold until weather conditions improve.

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Department has identified the two teenagers believed to have drowned in Lake Michigan overnight.

Deputies say Christopher Mimis, 17, and Vincent Green, 14, were with a group of four boys swimming in the swim area of the lake around 8 p.m. Wednesday when they all started to struggle.

Two of the boys were able to make it to the rocks near the north pier.

Mimis and Green were not able to make it to the pier and were taken out by the current.

The U.S. Coast Guard and the Ottawa County Dive Team are still searching for them Thursday morning, in what they're calling a "recovery effort." They say they will continue to search as long as weather permits.

WZZM 13's Alex Shabad is on scene. He tells us Mimis just moved to the area from Chicago, and Green was a student at West Ottawa.

This is a developing story.
