Zeeland middle school donates Toys for Tots award money

A Zeeland school that won a challenge to collect toys for area children is giving the money to other community causes

ZEELAND, MICH. - Students at Creekside Middle School in Zeeland are giving back to the community.

On Tuesday, March 14, students donated $1,000 to two West Michigan charities. They chose Kids Food Bank and Community Action House as the recipients, donating $500 to each organization.

The student council made the decision after winning the money for their participation in the Toys for Tots drive in December.

Every year, West Michigan schools participate in WZZM 13's annual School Spirit Challenge. During the challenge, students collect toys for Toys for Tots.

Creekside outdid more than 50 other groups to win the School Spirit Challenge.
