John Ball Zoo kicks off year-end fundraising campaign on Giving Tuesday

After Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is a way to turn around the consumer culture.

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - The John Ball Zoo is using the Giving Tuesday movement to kick-off their year-end fundraising campaign for a new visitor pathway on the western edge of the zoo.

Giving Tuesday, occurring on Nov. 28, is an international day of giving that follows Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday.

This year, Giving Tuesday will mark the zoo's unofficial public kick-off for their campaign. The new walkway they are appealing for is the third path to be built and way to make the zoo even more accessible. All three paths comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The new path also provide an opportunity to remove several old and unusable habitats, making room for more animals along the new path.

Those who are interested in joining John Ball Zoo's Giving Tuesday initiative or want to donate should visit www.jbzoo.org/donate.  Any donation made to the zoo before the end of the year will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $70,000 through a gift challenge award from the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA).
