Man killed in Kalamazoo shooting

KALAMAZOO, MICH. - Police in Kalamazoo are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another in the hospital.

Lt. Sean Gordon says it happened around 6:20 p.m, Monday, April 10. They were called to the area of North Church and and Frank Street on a report of a fight.

Police 22-year-old Bernard Andrew Kye and a 40-year-old woman with gunshot wounds. Officers performed CPR on Kye before he was taken to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The woman was hit in the leg and is in stable condition at the hospital. Her name has not been released.

Detectives have arrested a 20-year-old Kalamazoo man in relation to the shooting. They are requesting charges of felony murder, felon in possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon. His name will not be released until he is arraigned.
