Holiday patrols thwart Thanksgiving morning burglary attempt

KALAMAZOO, MICH. - A 26 year old and 29 year old are in the Kalamazoo County Jail after police say they were caught stealing from a home.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24. Officers were patrolling on Kickapoo Court, south of Michigan Street and west of Western Michigan University's campus.

They saw one of the men coming out of the home while the other one was serving as a lookout. Police believe the suspects broke into the back sliding door and got into the apartment where they were getting ready to steal some of the items inside.

Kalamazoo Public Safety officers will continue to patrol the area during the holiday weekend since so many people are out of town. They're asking people to secure their properties while they're away.
