COOPER TOWNSHIP, MICH. - A 71-year-old Kalamazoo man is dead after crashing his vehicle in a rural part of Kalamazoo County.
The crash happened around 7 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, near East D Avenue and North Riverview Drive, according to a Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department news release.
Police say the man was driving east when he somehow lost control of his commercial vehicle. It went off the roadway, traveled down an embankment and hit several trees.
The driver, who has yet to be identified, was taken to an area hospital for treatment. He later was pronounced dead.
Police do not believe alcohol nor speed are factors in the crash. The man was wearing his seat belt.
