Kalamazoo police in search of driver who hit light pole, closing roadway

KALAMAZOO, MICH. - The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety is investigating a car crash into a light pole on South Westnedge Avenue, causing the pole to fall down into the street.

According KDPS, the car crashed into a light pole at the intersection of West Michigan Avenue and South Westnedge Avenue around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27.

Westnedge Avenue was briefly closed from West Michigan Avenue to Academy Street until Consumers Energy crews could remove the severed power line from the street. 

The at-fault driver is still at large, having fled the scene on foot.
