Kalamazoo Public Schools increase security after clown threats

KALAMAZOO, MICH. - Growing concerns about threats and clowns have caused Kalamazoo Public Schools to increase security for Friday.

The school posted the following message to Facebook Thursday night:

"We are aware that school districts around the nation, and in our region, are dealing with this creepy clown social media issue.

We are also aware that Loy Norrix and Kalamazoo Central High Schools have been mentioned in a post. We have shared this information with our local police agencies, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety and the Kalamazoo Township Police.

We have strong partnerships with Kalamazoo Public Safety and the Township Police and after consultation with both we have been advised that we don’t have any evidence of a credible threat at this time.

We will have an expanded police presence in the district tomorrow, and police will continue to investigate."

There have been clown spotting drawing concerns not just in West Michigan, but all across the country.
