Man stabbed in stomach, head following altercation

KALAMAZOO, MICH. - The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety is conducting an investigation after a man was stabbed several times on Thursday, Dec. 21. 

The incident occurred around 1:11 a.m on Thursday. 

Police were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Reed Street on a call stating that someone had been stabbed. Officers responded and found a 28-year-old man with stab wounds to his head and abdomen. Officers provided first aid and the victim was eventually transported to the hospital and is currently in stable condition.

During the investigation, officers learned that a physical altercation had occurred between the stabbing victim and the suspect. The altercation escalated and the victim was stabbed with a knife by the suspect. The suspect is a 23-year-old Kalamazoo man who is currently lodged at the KCSD jail.

KDPS is requesting anyone with information about this crime to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 337-8994, the Criminal Investigation Division at 337-8139, or Silent Observer at 343-2100.
