Man stabbed, woman pepper sprayed on Kalamazoo street

KALAMAZOO, MICH. - Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers are looking for two suspects after a stabbing and assault Thursday, Oct. 20.

Officers say a 48-year-old man and his female friend were walking on E. Walnut around 9:30 p.m. They were approached by another man and woman who asked for a cigarette. The unknown man became angry and attacked the female victim.

The male victim was helping his his friend, when the male suspect stabbed him in the back with a knife. The female suspect then sprayed both victims with pepper spray.

Both suspects ran away.

The man and woman went to Bronson Hospital, where the man had surgery for his non-life threatening injury. The woman was treated for the effects of the pepper spray.

A police K-9 attempted to track the suspects but was unsuccessful.

The man and woman are both described as white and in their 20's. The woman was wearing a light colored jacket and blue jeans. There was not a clothing description for the man.
