CFA Title trophy

KALAMAZOO, MICH. - The College Football Playoff National Championship Trophy is making appearances in Kalamazoo on Saturday, Nov. 19.

According to the trophy caretaker, Charley Green of Breakaway Sports Marketing, the handmade 24-karat gold, bronze and stainless steel trophy is what is awarded to the winner of the College Football Playoff National Championship game. The game is  scheduled for Jan. 9, 2017.

The 26.5-inch-tall, 35-pound trophy has a gold-colored body and flattened, full-sized football on the top. The football's four laces represent the four playoff teams, Green says. Dr. Pepper is the official sponsor of the trophy.

The trophy is currently on a season long tour, visiting big games and public events across the nation.

College football fans can see the trophy in person on Saturday, Nov. 19 at the Walmart on Gull Road in Kalamazoo from 1 to 3 p.m and the Walmart on Ninth Street from 4 to 6 p.m.
