Search warrant served at home of missing Kalamazoo County teacher

Portage home searched by police

PORTAGE, MICH. - A police investigation is underway at the home of a Kalamazoo County teacher missing for several weeks.

Numerous police vehicles are at the scene just after 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, with crime tape surrounding the home of Theresa and Christopher Lockhart. The home is in the area of Poplar Bluff and Oak Leaf Trail, just off Oakland Drive.

Portage Department of Public Safety stated in a release, that they served a search warrant at the home, and that the warrant was part of the continuing investigation into the disappearance of Lockhart.

Theresa Lockhart, 44, was last seen May 18. She was reported to have driven away from home around 10 p.m., and her vehicle was found a few miles away.

Theresa Lockhart, a Spanish teacher at Schoolcraft High School, was not with the discovered car.

Police on Friday named her husband, Christopher Lockhart, a person of interest in connection to her disappearance, citing his lack of cooperating in the case. 

Neighbors tell WZZM 13 Christopher Lockhart is standing outside the house as officers conduct their work.
