Western Michigan University names Clinton, Obama economist as new president

WMU names new president

KALAMAZOO, MICH. - Western Michigan University's Board of Trustees have chosen the school's next president.

Edward Montgomery will replace President John Dunn, who will retire June 30 after 10 years. He was introduced during a trustee meeting Wednesday, April 12.

Montgomery will become the university's ninth president Aug. 1.

He's a nationally known labor economist, who played roles in both the Bill Clinton and Barack Obama presidential administrations, the latter of which he was tasked to help reboot the county's automobile industry.

Montgomery has 35 years of academic experience.
