Fire forces evacuation of Kentwood bakery

KENTWOOD, Mich. (WZZM) -- Firefighters are in clean-up mode after an early morning oven fire at a Kentwood bakery.

It happened around 2:40 a.m. Monday at Roskam Baking on Broadmoor Ave. near 52nd St. SE.

Crews found a fire in one of the commercial ovens at the facility. There was a haze in the air because of the fire when they first arrived.

Employees of the bakery were evacuated as a precaution. No one was injured.

Firefighters had the oven fire out about an hour after they arrived.

Roskam makes croutons and other baked goods for Rothbury Farms.
