Kentwood celebratory breakfast

KENTWOOD, MICH. - As Kentwood celebrates it's 50th anniversary, city leaders are taking time to thank businesses that are crucial to the city's framework.

A celebratory breakfast was held at the Kentwood branch of the Kent District Library on March 23 to recognize 23 businesses that have been in existence in Kentwood for 50 years or longer.

Mayor Stephen Kepley presented a representative from each business with an award. Among those honored were representatives from the Woodland Mall, which will soon launch an expansion bringing more jobs to the area.

The city of Kentwood will have a 50th anniversary event each month this year, with a large birthday celebration coming up in August.
