Shots fired across busy road in Kentwood; 2 suspects sought

Kentwood Police investigate shooting

KENTWOOD, MICH. - Police are looking for two people they say were involved in a shooting near Horrocks in Kentwood.

Witnesses tell police two young black men were on opposite sides of the street around 12:50 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, when the shots were fired.

One of them was on a BMX bicycle, the other on foot. Witnesses say the man on the bike pulled out a handgun and shot across the street. Witnesses say several shots were fired.

When police arrived on scene, both men were gone.

The shooting did cause Crestwood Middle School to go into a brief lock down. According to a press release from the school, law enforcement gave the all clear later in day and students and staff returned to their afternoon classes. 

At this time there are no reports of any injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
