NORTON SHORES, MICH. - A person reported missing was found the following day in a pond.
Thomas Bultema's family called police about the missing 61 year old around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, in the area of Henry Street and Porter Road, according to a Norton Shores Police Department news release.
Officers and a K-9 units searched Bultema's property into the night but could not find him.
A search resumed Wednesday on the ground and air, with a Michigan State Police helicopter. It quickly came to a close with the discovery of a piece of clothing floating in a nearby pond.
Bultema's body was found beneath the water, with the dive team able to recover him.
Police also located a leaf blower in the water. They believe he was home alone blowing leaves Tuesday afternoon near the pond when he accidentally fell in and drowned.
